Dan
Davis, 2009 Operating ChairDan is a graduate of Rice University with a degree in Economics. Following college, he served on active duty as a Communications Officers in the U.S Marine Corps. His professional career was spent in commercial banking and included serving as the president of two banks. Now retired from banking, he is currently the managing partner of a family investment partnership.
In 2002, Dan served his community as Chairman of the Huntsville Walker County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Huntsville City Council for eight years and served as Mayor Pro Tern. Dan represented the city as a board member of the Houston-Galveston Area Council and was elected as a regional president of the Texas Municipal League. He is quite proud of his role in developing the city park which showcases the sixty-seven foot statue of Sam Houston on Interstate 45 in Huntsville.
A Rotarian for almost thirty years, Dan was president of the Huntsville Rotary Club in 1987-88. After serving on numerous district committees, he became District Governor of District 5910 in 1998-99. Since that time, Dan has chaired several district committees and was District Trainer for three years. He has been a Discussion Leader at Lone Star PETS for six years and now represents District 5910 on the board. He is currently Curriculum Chair and will serve as the Operating Chair in 2009.
Dan is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor of the Rotary Foundation, and a member of District 5910's Roll of Fame. His wife, Elsie, is also a Paul Harris Fellow and a Benefactor of the Foundation. Dan and Elsie have one daughter.
