What you can expect at PETS:

  • A non-smoking seminar.
  • A dress code that will be comfortable casual
  • Discussion Leaders and Facilitators will wear business attire. 
  • Experienced, knowledgeable, dedicated, top flight discussion leaders from all over the State of Texas will be leading your breakout session.
  • Meet one-on-one with some of the finest minds in Rotary and mingle with the plenary speakers.
  • PEs will have an opportunity to meet with their District Governor-elect and Assistant Governor to discuss ideas and plans. 
  • A session dedicated to district affairs, where each district will discuss and plan the agenda for their year.
  • To benefit from an established and proven curriculum with current information on new Rotary programs that can benefit your leadership of your club.
  • In the breakout sessions to be paired with other Presidents-elect of clubs with similar size as yours.
  • You will get new ideas from the synergism developed in the discussion sessions and make new friends.
  • Learn how to build and maintain club membership.
  • Discover new ways to raise money and how to get club members involved in fund-raising projects.
  • Get new ideas for service projects.
  • There will be special sessions for spouses. These sessions focus on the spouse's role as the club president's partner in making the Rotary year successful and rewarding for both. Due to classroom space limitations, however, spouses will not be permitted to attend the Presidents-elect breakout training.
  • Presidents-elect will have the benefit of special Friday morning bonus sessions for Presidents-elect beginning at 7:00 AM

  • A group picture of each district will be taken and furnished to each President Elect.

There Will Be special Friday morning bonus sessions For PEs:

ROTARY Basics: 
Rotary Basics is intended to be presented to those Presidents-elect that have been in Rotary for three years or less.  It will cover the basics of Rotary and how it has developed over its 100 year history as the first and largest service organization in the world.  The philosophy of “Service Above Self” and the “Object of Rotary” are used to give the PEs an understanding of how the organization operates at the club level and the role of the individual Rotarian.  This session which begins at 7:00 a.m. will be given only once and will last for 45 minutes, allowing you to attend any of the other bonus sessions of your choice.

ELECTRONIC MEDIA AND THE RI WEBSITE: 
This session will last for 45 minutes and will repeat.  This session will demonstrate the use of the Internet and the Rotary International website.  PEs that attend this session will learn how to navigate through the multitude of topical areas and how to use the download center to have access to documents published by RI.  PEs will also learn how to access and change club data and navigate their district websites.

PREPARATION OF A CLUB BUDGET: 
This session will last for 45 minutes and will repeat.  The primary focus of this topic will be how to develop and track expenses using a budget for a Rotary club. PEs will learn how to prepare a line item budget and how to separate funds received for operational expenses from those funds received at club fund raisers. This session will be especially helpful for those PEs with limited experience in financial management.

PLANNING A SUCCESSFUL FUND RAISER: 
This session will last for 45 minutes and will repeat.  During this session PEs will learn how to plan for and execute a successful fund raiser.  Frequent examples will be shown demonstrating how to avoid mistakes from the planning through the execution phase.  The content of this session will be designed to show PEs of small and medium size clubs how to get the maximum participation from the club membership.

Polio Plus: 
This session will last for 45 minutes and will repeat.  This session led by one of the premier speakers in Rotary, will be particularly useful for those PEs that need some extra help or motivation in the final push to eradicate Polio. This session is a model that will inspire and awaken a greater passion for leading the fight against Polio.

Membership Development:  
This session will last for 45 minutes and will repeat.  This session will be particularly useful for those PEs that have had limited experience in membership & retention. It is also for those who would like to explore a program designed and implemented by Rotarians that could improve the effectiveness of the membership team at the club level.
